"Stretch forth your hand to the poor." Sirach 7:32
Each November we gather to give thanks for our many blessings. It is also a time to remember those who are not as blessed as we are.
Pope Francis has once again chosen to celebrate World Day of the Poor in November as a day to commit to help our fellow brothers and sisters in need. This year's theme "Stretch forth your hand to the poor" (Sir. 7:32) is a summons to responsibility and commitment as one human family.
Each November Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri also partners with area parishes to take up an additional collection in response to the needs of our neighbors. This year's collection is November 19 and 20. The work of Catholic Charities seeks to "stretch forth our hand" to the most vulnerable across southern Missouri.
This year, we invite you to join us in committing to the call of World Day of the Poor by making a gift that will help lift our brothers and sisters in need out of poverty and into a life of hope and love.
Together we will continue to Reach Out, Provide Hope and Change Lives!
