We help persons with developmental disabilities succeed!
Providing Support and Encouragement
Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri provides guidance and access to resources that meet the distinct needs of individuals with Down’s Syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy or other developmental challenges, and their families. These resources include comprehensive medical, social, educational and other specialized services.
Because each individual is unique, we seek to fully develop all options for each person based on individual characteristics and circumstances. We provide encouragement and support for individuals and families in order to promote self-sufficiency, choice, and maximum levels of independence.
Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri Service Coordinators locate resources, make referrals, monitor services that are being provided and help ensure that our clients’ ISPs are being followed correctly.
- Currently, this program of Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri serves residents of Cape Girardeau County and Scott County only.
- Individual must have a developmental disability diagnosis prior to the age of 22.
- Eligibility for services is determined by the Regional Office of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (MDMH).
- To determine your eligibility, please contact the MDMH Sikeston Regional Office at 573.472.5300.
Once a referral is made by the MDMH Regional Office in Sikeston, a Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri Service Coordinator meets with the individual and their family to form a relationship and gather information in order to develop an Individual Service Plan (ISP). Service Coordinators continue to work with the individual and their support team (family, friends, school staff and service providers) to locate resources, make referrals, monitor services that are being provided, and help assure that the Individual Service Plan is being followed correctly.
PLEASE NOTE: Developmentally disabled clients with their family may be eligible for Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri's Home Repair and Rebuilding Program for low-income, senior, veteran, and developmentally disabled clients.
