VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Preparation Assistance)

Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri is pleased to offer assistance to taxpayers needing help with filing federal taxes.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a service of the Internal Revenue Service and Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri.

Interested persons must call 417.720.2000 to make an appointment. Please leave a message if no one answers immediately as the number is only staffed part-time. If you leave a message, your call will be returned.


Saturday, Feb. 6 - 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 10 - 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 13 - 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 15 - 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 17 - 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Please note, this year's VITA program will support Walk-In and Drop Service only!


To qualify for free tax preparation through the VITA program, the following rules must be met:

  • The household income should be $57,000 or less

  • Or, the filer must have a disability

  • Or, be of limited English-speaking ability
